Get Your Phone Wet: Samsung Galaxy S7 & Edge Review

Samsung Galaxy S7You wouldn’t be caught dead getting your phone wet on purpose, right? However you’ve probably seen Lil Wayne in “Champagne Calls”, literally pouring champagne all over his phone, the new Samsung Galaxy S7. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Edge make the fear of getting your phone wet a thing of the past. Forget that crippling feeling of fear when you accidentally drop your phone in the sink or water puddle outside. With the GS7 you never have to worry about getting your phone wet ever again.

The redesign of the Galaxy S7 has really invented a class all it’s own. The GS7 has a screen size of 5.1 inches while the Edge has a size of 5.5 inches. The GS7 is sleeker than previous versions and equipped with a powerful camera. It’s super comfortable to use one-handed while lying down, and doesn’t hurt half as much hitting you in the face as a bulkier phone. The GS7 is equipped with Gorilla Glass, which makes it one of the more fragile phones on the market, so make sure you protect it with a stylish case.

The improved 12-megapixel camera focuses faster thanks to it’s dual pixel design. Forget blurry pictures and using flash at night. The DP design features an auto focus that’s so seamless it can catch the most sudden moves. Finally get a photo of that friend who “hates to take pictures” with effortless efficiency.

In the tradition of Androids, the GS7 has less bloatware, which is an amazing thing. You can customize everything from the lock screen to your phone’s name to themes. But, you do have to search a little more to find them though. To make up for that, Samsung added plenty of nice, little features like the tray, which helps you move applications from screen to screen more easily. Another convenient app is the always-on display which shows you the time or your calendar, depending on the setting, without taking your phone out of standby mode. Incredibly useful for on-the-go users.

The most exciting thing about the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Edge are their waterproof abilities. They’ve been certified with a IP68 rating, meaning they have complete protection against dust getting into your device and can be submerged in water up to 6 feet for at least 30 minutes without damage. You never have to leave your phone unattended on the beach again! Just pop it in your trunks or your top for safe keeping!

The battery life of the GS7 and Edge have also been improved by 15%. The Edge is equipped with Samsung’s biggest battery and lasts a little longer than the S7. The S7 is powered by the latest Android Marshmallow OS. Users can expect less battery drain from background apps, which improves the length and life of your battery. Go from 0% to 60% in just 30 minutes with a fast charge, and never wait on your phone to catch up with your fast-paced lifestyle again.

The call quality of the GS7 is just as good as it was last year with no new additions. However it’s been reviewed to have a warm, balanced sound and fewer call drops depending on the carrier. The sound quality itself with music is nothing an audiophile would drool over, but it can get pretty loud. If you’re an average music listener then you should be pleased with the audio with and without headphones. Paired with waterproof headphones you could take this baby into the pool for a couple of laps with no issues.

Another cool feature that can be used with the GS7 is the Gear VR (virtual reality) headset. It came free with the GS7 before 6/26/16, otherwise it’s only $99 and it’s way better than the Google Cardboard.

Overall the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Edge are a pair to be reckoned with. The new comfortable, sleek design equipped with the large display screen and Gorilla Glass makes the SG7 not only beautiful but dangerous (in a fragile way). In line with Androids methodology, customize the GS7 to the max and make it truly yours without too much bloatware. The improved megapixel camera can capture either hilarious quick motions or romantic settings in low light all at the click of a button. Say goodbye to charging your phone all night thanks to the fast charge feature, which can take your phone from 0 to 60% in 30 minutes and enjoy crisp call and sound quality.

And last but not certainly not least, take advantage of the waterproof capabilities of the GS7. Certified and fortified with an IP68 rating, you have no worries this summer. Take a page out of the book of Lil Wayne and get your phone wet.
